Aspheric lenses offer large collection angle and excellent on-axis performance suitable for fiber or wavelength coupling. Our achromatic aspherical lenses offer multi-wavelength performance and larger field of view sutiable for coupling from larger fibers or extended broadband sources.
Aspherical achromatic lenses consist of two cemented elements which provide superior color correction and the smallest RMS spot size closest to the diffraction limit. The second element of the achromatic lens is aspherical to reduce wavefront errors arising from standard spherical achromats. These aspherical achromatic lenses are the ideal choice for imaging, fiber coupling, scanning, and other applications that use a broadband laser or white light sources.
Achromatic aspheres utilize a broadband visible coating on the front side to provide optimal transmission. The AR.14 coating is applied to the front surface, whereas the back surface has a molded aspheric polymer cap with a protective seal.
These lenses can be used within the wavelength regime of 400-2000nm. However, the color and spherical aberration correction is only optimized over the wavelength regime of 400-700nm. The Aspherical achromatic lenses not only have superior color correction compared to standard achromats, but also have very similar spherical aberration corrections to those of machined aspheres.
